The Hills

For wine lovers, one of the first destinations is undoubtedly San Guido, from which the famous Viale dei Cipressi begins about 4 km long, which leads to Bolgheri; the same cypresses that fascinated the poet Giosuè Carducci enough to dedicate the famous poem “Davanti San Guido”. At the end of the avenue, therefore, we come to Bolgheri, a medieval village of extreme beauty, where in addition to the Gherardesca castle there is also the house where he lived as a boy between 1838 and 1848 Giosuè Carducci. Then it is impossible not to continue to Castagneto Carducci, only 10 minutes away from Bolgheri; you will find a small village, full of narrow streets, shops and markets. From the panoramic terrace of Piazzale Belvedere you can admire the sea and the countryside which extend for more than 50 km.
For those who love culture and history, cities like San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra, Pisa, Lucca and Florence can be easily reached within a maximum of two hours by car.

Move the south, you can find other seaside resorts such as San Vincenzo and Donoratico, where the beach becomes wider. A little further down, you will find the Rimigliano Park and not far away you will reach Baratti, with the beautiful beach of the gulf, the small port and the Etruscan necropolis with the park.
